Timeless beauty on my wrist

The world of luxury watches is a separate universe where craftsmanship meets timeless coverage. Some stunning pieces have come to be a symbol of luxury and feminine sophistication, where these timeless pieces are not just precious timepieces but have become luxury jewellery that requires a smart space in a woman’s vanity. From the delicate curves to the intricate, feminine-inspired dials, these five pieces are an ode to the pursuit of excellence and have been a popular choice since their release. Let’s take a look at some proud releases over the years.

Bulgari Serpenti

Wife of Hollywood actor Richard Burton, Elizabeth Taylor was a long-time Bulgari client who helped in making the iconic Serpenti watch popular. Photographed on her arm in 1962 during a photocall for her film ‘Cleopatra’, the watch soon quickly gained immense popularity in the luxury world. The company released the watch in 1848; it soon transformed into an emblematic symbol of luxury for the Roman jewellery house.

Rolex Datejust 36

Rolex is a classic investment watch that is the brand’s bestseller. The first modern wristwatch with an automatically adjusted date window revolutionised the industry with its launch in 1945. It also introduced Rolex’s well-known Jubilee-style bracelet, which is a staple part of the piece and is considered an heirloom for some. This iconic Rolex does not need fanfare to be appreciated, as it is already a well-renowned luxury and knows how to sell itself without marketing, but only with class and poise.

Chanel Première

Chanel released the truly fabulous wristwatch in the 1980s, which was conceived by the then-artistic director of watches, Jacques Hélleu. Chanel Première brought two of Chanel’s most renowned symbols, i.e., the chain-like strap of its iconic 2.55 handbag and the octagonal stopper shape of their No. 5 perfume selection. The monochromatic tone gave a sleek and sophisticated look that would look appealing from day to night.

Van Cleef & Arpels Cadenas

Van Cleef & Arpels’ blockbuster Alhambra, the Cadenas, is a total designer classic and has a bold design. Rumoured to be inspired by Wallis Simpson, the Duchess of Windsor, the Cadena was released in 1935 and came with an unusual padlock-shaped clasp with a slinky gold bracelet and a cleverly angled dial. It was revived in 2015, when the Cadenas celebrated their 90th anniversary, and is a timeless piece and an epitome of luxury.

Cartier Tank

Released just after the First World War, it was designed by Louis François Cartier and named after the early armoured defence vehicles that were used on the battlefields of Europe. This stunning piece set a new standard of luxury and had a square dial with a vintage brown touch that was soon worn by popular faces. A-listers including Princess Diana, Jackie Kennedy, Angelina Jolie, and Michelle Obama are some of the names who have sported this stunning watch on their wrist.
