This Indian model donned a sari at D&G's Italian show and rest is history

It's not a new thing for an Indian model to create waves on the international ramp, but it's definitely noteworthy when an Indian woman wears a sari for an international designer's grand show. Interestingly, as per Stefano Gabbana of Dolce & Gabbana, he took designing cues from Sharma herself. “We have a model, an Indian girl, and we told her: ‘We'll give you a piece of fabric and you do, by yourself, the sari and after that we’ll customise the outfit. We love the tradition. In this case, we love to put our touch on the Indian tradition,” he was quoted as saying by a leading website. Photo: Instagram

And, her fame didn't come easy! According to reports, it took Dipti three years to crack this. After sending dozens of her pictures to agencies in New York, London and Paris, she was signed by a local modelling agency. Photo: Instagram
