Day 1 of Amazon India Fashion Week '16

Day 1 of Amazon India Fashion Week 2016 kick started with the debut of designer Sanjay Garg. He showcased a collection titled 'Mashru- a mix of silk and cotton,’ making the 'old’ textile look contemporary.

The front row glitterati saw Bollywood beauties Konkona Sen Sharma, Mini Mathur, Deepti Naval and Soha Ali Khan.

"The collection is inspired from Banaras. The garments presented technical advancements in Mashru giving it a modern look albeit retaining its opulence. The pieces can also be worn as separate garments and the best part is that you can work wearing my creations,” said the designer.

Designer Anavila Misra astounded everyone with her classic and trademark hand-woven linen sarees.

Her collection was titled, ‘The Secret Life of Forests,’ and shades of white, grey and beige dominated the organic sarees. Anavila stressed on ‘comfort’ fabric, which had a high wearability quotient.

Designer duo Rabani and Gautam Rakha showcased their models wearing sheer lehengas, sarees and gowns. Silver and white pearls lit up the delicate palette dominated by ivory and indigo blue.

The collection was skillfully contained, made up of austere modern cuts, flirty detailing, luxe lace and tulle.

Vineet Bahl's spring summer collection 'Through the looking glass' sought its inspiration from an exhibition by the same name held at Met Museum, New York.

The collection showcased clothes representing the cultural leitmotifs of China, depicting the influence of oriental influence on global fashion.

Fashion industry veteran Kavita Bhartia presented a brilliant indo-western collection on the day 1, with a crisp mix of black and white.

The impeccable use of cross-stitch embroidery in the garments turned out to be the highlight of the collection.

Designer duo Shivan Narresh presented a cracker of a collection as they brought to life a beach in the middle of central Delhi.

The collection comprised bikinis, ruche and pencil skirts, day dresses, lehengas and embellished saris.
