Royal, political, powerful and stylish, there are many shades of purple

Power of purple: Powerful women arrive in purple to make a statement

Purple seemed to be the favourite colour at the Biden-Harris inauguration on January 20. And it wasn't just Vice President Kamala Harris, who turned up in a purple outfit, but also former first ladies Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton, and U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren chose to wear purple for the event. The internet has been talking about the probable significance and suggests that the colour purple is also a nod to Shirley Chisholm, who was the first black woman to run for US President as part of the Democratic party. The colour purple also symbolises the women's suffragette movement. Purple has also been associated with bipartisanship.

Check out how these stars have rocked the colour, and you can too:

3/13

Prince

No one could ever rock the purple colour better than the legendary musician Prince did. In fact, in 2017, The Pantone Institute dedicated the colour, declaring ' The Purple One,' the colour of the year as he had been associated with purple since the release of his Grammy- and Oscar-winning 1984 album and movie, 'Purple Rain'.

4/13

Meghan Markle

The Duchess of Sussex has not only brought the colour back in vogue but has also shown us how to style them right and wear the same outfit in different styles. Her bright purple dress teamed up with a bright red trench coat and matching shoes, is a great way to layer in winters.

5/13

Lady Gaga

Whether you want to wear a simple purple trench coat or create an avant-garde style, the 'Born This Way,' songstress has it all! Throw on a purple leather jacket and a matching sunglasses for grunge or simple wear a long purple woolen tunic for a retro look.

6/13

Zendaya

Well! It is difficult to tell which look of Zendaya we like the best. If you are in a mood for a retro vibe, the purple bell-bottom pants would just be right. For those looking to floor with cuts and silhouettes, but seek gown inspo from the 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' actress.

7/13

Jennifer Aniston

The diva has sported various hues of purple both onscreen and off-screen. If you want to create a simple look, her purple turtle neck sweater is what you must choose, but if you want to take your style quotient to another level, the 'Friends' actress' off-shoulder structure dress is all you need!

8/13

Halsey

There are 50 shades of purple, and all of them look great on Halsey. While her purple off-shoulder, floral-print gown, is a great outfit for a party, we love her purple playsuit.

9/13

Miley Cyrus

The 'Wrecking Ball' hitmaker knows how to slay in the colour. The diva has owned both subtle hues of violet and darker ones! However, we are totally in love with her bright, ruffled one-shoulder dress in the shade. So, the next time you want to grab eyeballs, you know what to wear!

10/13

Deepika Padukone

The 'Padmaavat' star looks like a royal queen in purple colour. For a power dressing, wear a purple pansuit, but if feminine style is your thing, look nowhere beyong her purple gown with long cape sleeves.

11/13

Beyonce

The Queen B can literally rock any shade of purple with a lot of attitude and panache. The singer's purple sequin outfit will make heads turn, but if you want to keep it subtle, choose a purple one-shoulder dress or her light purple pant and suit ensemble.

12/13

Gigi Hadid

The supermodel has rocked elegant gowns, long coats, and jazzy sequin outfits in hues of purple. If you want to make a style statement, go for her lavender gown with a huge bow.

13/13

Kylie Jenner

Kylie Jenner has sported different shades of purple and in the most stylish ways. From her light purple and off-white dress that matched her hair at Met Gala, to a deep purple fringed dress and two-piece bikini, the makeup mogul and 'KUWTK' star has plenty of style inspo to offer.
