Alia Bhatt’s romantic relationship with contemporary-ethnic royal dressing goes back to her ‘Kalank’ promotions. Giving back-to-back traditional looks in salwars, anarkalis, and more, with a modern feel, opened new horizons of ethnic dressing in the country. It seems she’s revisiting her 2019 era again, as recently, the diva looked like she had not aged a day and turned heads in a statement white-on-white Farshi salwar which was reminiscent of early 2000s. She chose to slay in a traditional customised Torani ensemble, which looked elegant, fluid, and absolutely mesmerising.

The delicate yet feminine sheer ivory look featured lace embroidery around the neckline and sleeves if the kameez. It softly skimmed on her body and was matched with a matching inner, which flowed into the volume of her salwar. This magical-looking minimal set was matched with a scalloped lace dupatta, which gave it a finesse touch. But her subtle styling details are what made this look feel ethereal. Alia wore a pair of pearl chandelier earrings by Hanut Singh and completed the look with pointy embroidered juttis by Needledust, which kept the look grounded and iconic.
Decorating her hands with soft gold rings, she simply tied her hair into a ponytail and did not allow any loose strands at the front. Opting for a glowing makeup base, she maintained her signature minimal beauty charm, wearing only muted-brown eyeshadow, softly contoured cheeks, mascara-laden eyes, and subtle brown lips.

What makes this look different from others? While other celebs are usually seen in anarkalis, straight-fit kurtas, patials, and others, the farshi salwar is a lesser-worn ethnic ensemble in India. It is the regular version of a kurta and salwar, but with an oversized fit. The salwar is usually extremely wide, with floor-length flares, and is inspired by Mughal and Persian royalty.Regardless of whether traditional or modish, Alia has always owned the look in this colour. The palette of ivory has always been her safe place, as it was for her Tom Ford look last year at ‘Ba***ds Of Bollywood’s premiere or her beautiful Sabyasachi wedding drape.
