We had a red carpet in a certain place here for years, and then the construction just took it away. So we had to come up with something different.” However, many viewers found this setup quite similar to New York City’s annual Met Gala, where a staircase usually replaces the traditional flat backdrop that we usually see on red carpets. The production designer of the Golden Globes 2026, Jitter Garcia, told Los Angeles magazine that the team wanted to feel the set like a motion and not just a space for posing. They indeed made the set look almost like a runway. She also said, “We were very intentional about the measurements of the steps. We were thinking about the skirts, the trains, and the heels. And then we looked at it again and thought it might not read correctly on camera. So we redid the whole thing.” Garcia also added that many stylists of A-list actors and actresses were invited for a preview of the new space ahead of the big day.
