Bhavitha Mandava becomes the only Indian, after Priyanka Chopra, to feature on this international magazine’s cover
Bhavitha Mandava’s fashion journey has not just stood out as an inspiration but has also become a matter of pride for the Indian fashion and modelling industry. From street-casting to becoming the first Indian-origin model to open the Chanel couture show in 2025, Bhavitha has now achieved another milestone in her runway career.
The 25-year-old has become the first Indian model to appear solo on the cover of British Vogue. She’s the only brown girl after Indian actress Priyanka Chopra to achieve the feat. It’s a landmark achievement in a global fashion landscape where South Asian faces who have never been part of, are now fronting the covers, and are creating their own influential title.
The fits revolved around maximalist prints and carried the essence of spring. From statement polka dots to iconic stripes and soft florals, she went for golden sparkling jewels and a retro-touch heavy blowout, which made things dramatic times ten. For her cover look, she wore a stripe-print, colourful and furry round-neckline sweater jacket which came with statement golden buttons. She paired it with a pair of matching pants and wore dangling green quirky earrings.
In the other images, she went ballistic, pairing floral dresses with polka dot stockings, and in one of the slides, she was seen sporting a chequered retro-inspired jacket with a dramatic purple skirt and metallic belly shoes.
Her journey from Hyderabad to the fashion world
Bhavitha was born and raised in Hyderabad, from where she next moved to New York to pursue architecture. But modelling reshaped her fate, and within months she was street-casted for Bottega Veneta and Dior. But when Matthieu Blazy staged Chanel’s Métiers d’Art show in 2026, things changed for her, as Bhavitha became the first Indian model to open a Chanel show.
This was a moment to remember, when her life came full circle as she started her career underground and became a face to remember by walking on a subway platform for Chanel. She now shares her legacy with Priyanka Chopra and is representing the new generation.Get the latest lifestyle updates on Times of India, along with Valentine's day wishes, messages and quotes !
