This year’s first partial solar eclipse will take place on April 30. And interestingly, the first Lunar Eclipse of the year will also take place on May 16, after 15 days of the partial solar eclipse. Also known as Surya Grahan, this year’s
solar eclipse will coincide with the extremely rare phenomenon, ‘Black Moon.’ In this, the moon appears to be black during the new moon night i.e when we can’t see the moon, except during a solar eclipse.
The Black Moon will be blocking out the sun during that day, just before and during the sunset time. This will result in a partial solar eclipse.

A solar eclipse happens when the Moon orbits between the Sun and Earth, thus casting a shadow on Earth. It then fully or partially blocks the Sun’s light in some areas. In a partial solar eclipse, the Moon and Sun are not perfectly aligned, so the Moon does not completely cover the Sun, thus letting out only some specs of the light. For those who are unaware, there are 4 types of eclipses. Total, Annular, Partial and Hybrid. This year, there will be four eclipses, that includes two total lunar eclipses and two partial solar eclipses. - How should you watch the eclipse?
