What hour of the day he writes in: I am an “OWL Writer” I write late into the night. Night is the only time of the day when I get time for myself and that too at a stretch. Creativity for me flows at night.
Where: I am very happy writing in the midst of people or even while watching a cricket match on Television. In fact silence makes me lose focus. When I write, I am normally on my sofa in the living room of my house. listening to family talk, responding to the door bells and munching on calorific food.
Inspiration: My readers. I know it is cliched. But the desire to give them a good book to read is so intense that it often drives my style of writing and even the themes.

What hour of the day he writes in: I normally write in the mornings. I wake up early every day, read newspapers, exercise, do my puja and then start writing.
Where: I can write anywhere. I've written while sitting on the backseat of my car, at home, in cafes, in guesthouses in the hills.

Which hour of the day she writes in: Mornings especially early in the morning to upto noon latest. My mind is at its liveliest at that point and I cannot write when it is hot. So in summers I wake up very early to finish writing before the sun gets too hot.
Where: I can write anywhere however because of the internet access and the presence of my beloved books and music, I write best either in my study in my home in Bangalore or in my cottage in Kerala.
Inspiration: No one specific writer or book. Every book I have read has helped in one way or other. Sometimes I learn how to. Sometimes I learn how not to.

What hour of the day she writes in: Between 9.30 am and 3.30 pm and then again at night between 11.30 pm till when my eyelids droop.
Where: I cannot write in coffee shops or when surrounded by people. I have my own room in my home, which is full of things that is meaningful to me.
Inspiration: My father

RAVINDER SINGH: Popularly called as the 'King of Romance', Ravinder was not an avid reader before he wrote his debut novel 'I too had a love story'.
What hour of the day he writes in: Early morning. Along with a cup of morning tea, I feel charged up enough to write.
Where: Majority of my writing happens in my balcony. I have got a few plants there to feel the plush of nature.Inspiration: Actually lack of inspiration is the only inspiration behind my style of writing.

SHAHID SIDDIQUI: Born on a historical date 15 August, he was a founder member of the Student Federation of India in Delhi University and the author of The Golden Pigeon!
Which hour of the day he writes in: I go to sleep thinking about my story, talking to characters and trying to enter their inner soul and then wake up as early as 4 or 5 AM and type as fast as I can before life around me start disturbing me. At this time my story and it's characters take command and sometimes lead me on a path which I had not planned.
Where: Goa or any other beach where I can remove myself from daily happenings and just listen to the sound of waves and rustling leaves, I love to write at anytime of the day or night. Goa is one place where my mind takes off riding on the waves in directions and depths never fathomed before.
Inspiration: My inspiration comes from people around me. Characters from my childhood jumps out and tell me some strange stories. My English Novel 'The Golden Pigeon' is full of such strange characters. Sometimes a face on the street just turns into a story.

KRISHNA SHASTRI DEVULAPALLI: is a cartoonist, children's illustrator and graphic designer. In his chequered career, he has worked in advertising, designed hundreds of greeting cards, illustrated school textbooks and written film scripts.
Which hour of the day he writes in: I like writing during Happy Hour. Because that's when the alcohol is served at half price. It's also the time the leftover bar nuts can be doggie-bagged and taken home. I find these two factors highly motivating. Moreover, the bar is where I set most of my stories. So that helps, too.
Where: I do like the hills and the ocean and once you have had the requisite amount of alcohol, you don't have to move to them. They come to you ... along with red-swimsuited lifeguards, dancing maidens and singing kangaroos. On dry days, I like writing perched on the guava tree in my backyard.
Inspiration: My true inspiration are my readers. All eleven of them. They tell me what to write via threatening texts and FB messages. For instance, they currently want me to write a futuristic cookbook with medieval ingredients. I am working on it.

Which hour of the day he writes in: I read somewhere that Ernest Hemingway used to wake up at five in the morning and start writing and stop at noon so I tried it once but fell asleep at the computer. So now I mostly write after nine at night into the small hours, when it's permitted and conventional to have a glass or more of wine.
Where: My usual writing environment is my study which has my computer and books, but I can write almost anywhere, except in coffee shops (I hate coffee shops) and moving cars as I get travel sickness if I stare at a keyboard.
Inspiration: My inspiration is a Sufi Saint called Soney Baba. I first came across his existence when I heard a Quwali by Nusrat Fateh Ali in which he professes that he is the 'chaakar of Soney Baba'. The song played on my mind and I decided that it was better to be a servant of Soney than to be subservient to any philosophy.

SHUBHA MENON: The quirky writer knew just one thing before she started writing her first book that it is NOT going to be a 'Sob Story'.
What hour of the day she writes in: Early morning, because my mind is clear and I am fresh. Also, if i get my writing done first thing in the morning, I am way more relaxed and far less antsy for rest of the day.
Where: If I could I would write only in the hills.
Inspiration: I guess all the books I have read while growing up, and everything I have learnt while writing copy in ad agencies, have shaped my writing.

JUGGI BHASIN's mind is always sourcing behaviour patterns, ideas, oddities and the body language of friends, strangers even at a casual meeting.
What hour of the day he writes in: I end up writing late afternoons and late nights. When I write I need my surroundings and immediate environment to be absolutely quiet and settled.
Where: I usually end up writing in my study. I personally think writing in the hills or near a boat house at the edge of a lake is part of the myth making associated with a writer
Inspiration: I draw inspiration from great film directors like Martin Scorsese, Coppola and Ridley Scott. I do believe that all art forms are inter – connected and I continue to watch films that inspire me to write fast paced, edge of the seat thrillers with a terrific social content.

What hour of the day he writes in: I am a nocturnal beast and prefer to do my writing in the still of the night. This is when distractions are at a minimum and the Muse is upon me.
Where: I'm blessed to have a cozy den out on my terrace garden that is my sanctuary and writing retreat.
Inspiration: I write not only about the ultra rich and powerful but also about the poor and dispossessed. I have many literary influences ranging from Salman Rushdie to Tom Sharpe but I would like to believe that I write in a voice that is original and unique.
