The popular Expanse series is coming to a close with the last book in the anvil. Recently the co-authors announced the book titles and cover in an online event, confirming it would be the last in the series, but added there would be a novella set in the same universe, that would be released later.
The first book in the series was called 'Leviathan Wakes' and the last one has been named 'Leviathan Falls', seeming to bring all the events across the books to a close.
The series is written by Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck, under the joint pen name James S. A. Corey. The bestselling series became more popular as it's been adapted into a TV show by the same name.
"There is no plan to write any more novels after the novels are done but depending on what Alcon chooses to do with the TV show rights, who know's what they decide to do. They may be more Expase things, but they won't be the book version," Ty specified when asked about taking the story further.
Both authors clearly said they won't do any prequel books but admitted they were working on another project together. It's a three-book series they'll start working on properly once The Expanse series is over.
"It's a very different project," Daniel Abraham said and went on to describe the series as at "the disappointing love child of Frank Herbet and Ursula Le Guinn"
'Leviathan Falls' is due to release in 2021.
