Fans and followers of the 'Harry Potter Series' had an eventful new year as the cast from the film series reunited on 'Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts'. On the show, the cast embarked on a journey down memory lane with nostalgic conversations while celebrating 20 years since the first film. Even after two decades since the release of the first Harry Potter book, the series remains much loved by children and adults alike. It has inspired millions of people to take up reading and introduced them to the world of young adult literature. 'His Dark Materials' by Philip Pullman

A trilogy consisting of 'Northern Lights', 'The Subtle Knife', and 'The Amber Spyglass', the series revolves around young orphan Lyra, who goes on a quest to find her missing friends. It centers on Linus Baker, who lives in a tiny house with a devious cat and his old records. As a Case Worker at the Department in Charge Of Magical Youth, he spends his days overseeing the well-being of children in government-sanctioned orphanages. ​'Monstrous Regiment' by Terry Pratchett

One of the 41 books in the 'Discworld' series, it revolves around Polly, whose brother is missing in action. To find him, she will have to pretend to be a boy and join the army. ​'The Secret of Platform 13' by Eva Ibbotson

It was published three years before the first Harry Potter book and also involves a platform at London's King's Cross station that opens for a limited time to transport characters to a magical place.


"Under Platform 13 at King's Cross Station there is a secret door that leads to a magical island. It appears only once every nine years. And when it opens, four mysterious figures step into the streets of London. A wizard, an ogre, a fey and a young hag have come to find the prince of their kingdom, stolen as a baby nine years before.
