David Nicholls' 'Us' is being adapted into a movie
Author David Nicholls' 2014 bestseller Us is being adapted into a movie starring Tom Hollander, Saskia Reeves and Tom Taylor. The filming for the film, which is being adapted by the author, started on a four-part BBC One dramatisation, reported The Bookseller.
Us is the story of a couple -Douglas Petersen (played by Hollander) and his wife Connie (played by Reeves). When Connie tells Douglas that she isn't sure if she wants to continue being married to him, Douglas is stunned. But he still agrees to go their already planned family-trip to Europe. It's on this trip that he decides to win back his wife's love and work on his troubled equation with his son Albie (played by Taylor).
Commenting on the development, Nicholls said, according to The Bookseller, “It’s a huge thrill to see the novel come to life and with such a wonderful cast and production team. We want to make something funny, touching and beautiful, to really explore marriage and family life, all against this incredible backdrop.”
The movie is being produced by Drama Republic and Bandstand Productions. It will be shot in London, Amsterdam, Venice, Barcelona and Paris, according to the report.
