Unknown benefits of coffee in skincare

Coffee is most widely used as a beverage but it is also gaining reputation as an alternative remedy for skincare. Coffee is rich in antioxidants and can help to fight free radicals which are involved in damaging healthy skin cells. From dark circles to acne, here's how you can use coffee in your skincare regime:

2/6

Dark circles

The caffeine present in coffee helps to dilate blood vessels that contribute to dark circles. Coffee also has natural bleaching agents which helps lighten the discolouration under eyes. All you have to do is mix one tablespoon of coffee powder with a teaspoon of honey and a few drops of vitamin E oil. Apply this mixture under your eyes carefully and wash it off after 15 minutes.

3/6

Acne treatment

A regular use of coffee can help in fighting bacteria-led acne as coffee is rich in CGAs which have anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. Mix together 3 tablespoons of ground coffee and 2 tablespoons of brown sugar. Add 3 tablespoons of coconut oil into the coffee mixture and mix it well to make a thick scrub. Rub this scrub all over your face, avoid sensitive areas like eyes. Leave it for 10 minutes and rinse it with clean water.

4/6

Anti-ageing benefits

Applying coffee mask directly on skin may help in decrease the appearance of sun spots, redness and fine lines. Mix coffee powder, cocoa powder in a bowl and add small portions of milk to make a face mask. Add 2 drops of honey and lemon juice to the mixture and apply it on your face. Leave it for 20 minutes and wash it off with clean water. You can store this mixture in fridge for 3 days.

5/6

Cellulite reduction

The caffeine present in coffee helps in cellulite reduction by dilating blood vessels beneath the skin and improving overall blood flow.

6/6

Radiant skin

Mix 1/4 cup of coffee grounds and 3 tablespoons of aloe vera gel in a bowl. Apply the scrub to your face or body and massage it gently for 10 minutes. Rinse it with clean water. Aloe vera gel is extremely soothing and helps in hydrating the skin. A good massage with this scrub stimulates the cells and gives the skin a healthy and natural glow.
