Onion Oil for hair: Easy-to-make homemade Onion Oil recipe for fast hair growth
We’ve all heard stories from our grandmothers about the benefits of onion hair oil for hair growth. Its magic lies in the sulphur content, a key component of keratin, the protein that makes up most of our hair. Applying onion oil to the scalp boosts blood circulation, nourishing hair follicles and promoting overall hair growth. This easy-to-make homemade hair oil is a must-have for your vanity. Let’s dive into the steps right away.
Ingredients required: 500 grams of coconut oil, 2 fresh onions sliced, 15-20 curry leaves, 10-15 fenugreek seeds, and 10 cloves of garlic.
Step 1: Gather all the ingredients together and stir them in a pot.
Step 2: Boil the mixture on a low flame till the onions turn brown.
Step 3: Now, bring it to a boil and let it cool down.
Step 4: Strain it, and store the oil in an airtight container.
Bonus step: If you’re a cooking freak, then try to give it a random tadka, but try to focus first on the task at hand.
Breakdown of the ingredients used
Coconut oil: the ultimate grandmother-approved skin and hair care product that has ever existed. It strengthens the skin and replenishes and hydrates the scalp, further adding lustre and shine to your locks.
Onions: Known to strengthen and thicken the strands, it is rich in sulphur and quickly boosts the collagen production in the scalp. Collagen creates new and healthy skin cells, and it also promotes hair growth and prevents hair fall.
Garlic: Garlic here kills the germs and bacteria that damage the scalp and stunt the growth of your locks. Rich in vitamin C, it boosts collagen production and stimulates quicker hair growth.
Curry leaves: Rich in antioxidants and protein, curry leaves cleanse and hydrate the scalp, remove the dead hair follicles, and prevent your hair from thinning as well.
How to use?
Apply this oil twice a week and let it stay for 3 hours before washing your hair with a good sulphate- and paraben-free shampoo. You will eventually witness the results in about three to four months. However, beware of the atrocious smell coming from your head, and refrain from going outside.
Any side effects?
Onion oil side effects can include dryness, redness, scalp irritation, which is often caused by the high sulfur content. So beware of oily side effects like eczema, hair dryness, and at times high inflammation.
