Exfoliate and remove sun tan with these 5 DIY scrubs

Exfoliation is a skincare process that removes damaged skin cells from the surface of your skin. It enhances your skin’s appearance, removing tanning, blackheads, dirt, grime, oil, and more. Exfoliation mainly includes gentle scrubbing, which has two key principles. The process works on the ‘less is more’ and ‘nurture your skin’ concepts, which means having a limit to proceed with and consistently following it with a moisturiser to replenish any lost moisture. If you’re scared and tired of using manufactured exfoliators with harsh results, then create your own DIY facial scrub and seep in the benefits.

Coffee scrub face mask

The caffeine present in coffee stimulates our blood circulation, which further reinstates the glow and freshness of our skin. Let’s take a look at the steps.
Step 1: Make a paste using three tablespoons of ground coffee with ½ cup of yoghurt. Blend it in a mixer for 5 minutes and add a thick layer of honey.
Step 2: Apply this mixture to your face evenly and start scrubbing upward in circular motions for 10 minutes.

Step 3: Wash your face with cold water and apply a moisturiser or cold aloe vera gel for a soothing end.

Coconut milk and almond face scrub

This natural face scrub mask is an ideal exfoliator that minimises the appearance of pores and cellulite present on your face.
Step 1: Take 2 cups of white clay, 1 cup of ground oats, and 4 tablespoons of ground almonds.
Step 2: Add two tablespoons of finely ground rose petals and blend them well.

Step 3: Add a cup of coconut milk and create a smooth paste. Apply this for 10 minutes and get a soft, supple, and radiant glow.

Honey, lemon, and sugar face scrub

This ideal tan removal scrub has several natural exfoliants that remove dead cells from the skin. Lemon clears blackheads, acne, and pigmentation, whereas honey acts as a natural moisturiser and heals inflamed skin.

Step 1: Take 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of olive oil. Add 1 tablespoon of honey and squeeze a big lemon.
Step 2: Create a paste and apply it on your face. Scrub for a few minutes and then wash it with cold water. However, do not keep the paste on your skin for too long, as it will suck out moisture from your pores.

Yoghurt and tomato face scrub

Tomatoes are popular for removing skin tan, and on the other hand, yoghurt is a natural bleach that lightens your skin tone. Blend the two for an active scrub and remove the outer tanned layer from your skin.
Step 1: Prepare a scrub using a teaspoon of tomato pulp with yoghurt and add a spoon of lemon juice.

Step 2: Mix it well and apply this on your face for tan removal. Let the paste dry for some time and then wash it with cold water.

Step 3: You might feel an itching sensation on your skin after application, but once the solution dries, you can rinse your face, which will further remove the tanned layer from your face.

Honey and cinnamon scrub

The powerful combination of honey and cinnamon creates a potent mixture that clears the pores but also imparts a natural glow to the skin. This combination soothes inflamed skin, removes tanning, and reduces breakouts.

Step 1: Take 3 tablespoons of honey and 1 tablespoon of freshly ground cinnamon powder.
Step 2: Using a brush, apply this mixture evenly across your face and ensure complete coverage. Gently scrub your skin in circular motions and allow the paste to work its magic.
Step 3: Rinse off the scrub with cold water and cleanse your face with a facial cleanser and moisturising routine.
