'Won't be surprised if he holds meetings with terrorists someday': BJP MP Tejasvi Surya on Rahul Gandhi's US visit
BENGALURU: Bharatiya Janata Party MP Tejasvi Surya slammed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his remarks and meetings during his visit to the United States and said that he would not be surprised if he held meetings with terrorists someday.
Addressing a press conference on Friday, the BJP MP from South Bengaluru said that the comments made by the Lok Sabha LoP over the removal of reservations were quite damaging.
He further criticised Gandhi for meetings with "anti-India" elements like Ilhar Omar and alleged that the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha was holding meetings with Khalistan, Pakistan, China, and Bangladesh agents.
" Rahul Gandhi's statements on the removal of reservations are quite damaging... If you see, the kind of people he is meeting is also shocking. Ilhar Omar is anti-India... He is holding meetings with Khalistan, Pakistan, China, and Bangladesh agents. It won't be a surprise if he holds a meeting with terrorists someday," Surya said.
During his visit to the US, Gandhi spoke of scrapping the reservations system in India when the country becomes a "fair place" during his interactions with students and faculty at Georgetown University in Washington, DC, on September 9 (local time).
On the stone pelting incident at a Ganapati procession in Mandya, Tejasvi Surya criticised Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara's remark and questioned if he would call it accidental if stones were pelted at Parameshwara's house.
"I want to ask the state Home Minister, G Parameshwara, if stones were pelted at your house during the Ganesh procession, would you call it accidental?" Surya added.
Earlier on Friday, former Karnataka Chief Minister and Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy visited the Nagamangala area of Karnataka's Mandya district after violence was reported from the area following an incident of alleged stone pelting at a Ganesh procession.
Kumaraswamy slammed the Congress-led state government and said that they are "appeasing one community for political benefit."
