Additional Sessions Judge Mamta Sehgal had yesterday convicted theatre owners Sushil and Gopal Ansal along with two Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) officials Shyam Sunder Sharma and N D Tiwari and a Delhi Fire Service officer H S Panwar under sections 304A and 337 and 338 of the IPC, which pertain to endangering human lives.
Seven other accused were, however, held guilty under Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the IPC in the case of fire tragedy, which claimed the lives of 59 people in 1997.
Sharma, who, regained consciousness after sometime, was asked to sit outside the courtroom by the judge.
Earlier, counsel for one of the convicts, Ramesh Gupta found it difficult to enter the courtroom and expressed his anger on the overcrowding in the courtroom.
"How should I reach there" Gupta asked the Judge, showing his grimace on the surrounding crowd.
The court, unperturbed over his outbursts, asked him to calm down.
