MEERUT: A total of 16 people were injured when two families belonging to different communities clashed over the construction of a siphoning mechanism at village Chousana in Shamli District.
According to SSP Anil Kumar Rai, “A Muslim household was constructing a siphoning mechanism to siphon out dirty water. Just adjacent to the house is located a poorvaj ( a one square foot structure made in the memory of ancestors) of a Kashyap family staying at about a furlong away from the structure.

The representatives of the Kashyap family objected as the water would contaminate the structure. This led to a verbal spat that transformed into clashes between the members of two families in which 16 people were injured.”
According to the police, no one was grievously injured and situation was immediately brought under control.
