Tripura Election Results 2023: The counting of votes polled in the Tripura assembly elections is under way.

Early trends
  1. The ruling BJP-IPFT alliance in Tripura is ahead of the opposition Left-Congress, according to early trends on TV channels.
  2. The BJP-IPFT alliance is ahead in 25-36 seats, while the Left-Congress alliance was leading in 11-23 seats.
  3. The Tipra Motha, led by former royal Pradyot Debbarma, was also leading in 8-12 seats, early trends showed. The Election Commission is yet to announce any official bulletin regarding the results.
  4. The early trends, mainly derived from the counting of postal ballots, may change with several rounds of counting left for all the seats.
Performance of star candidates
  • Tripura CM Manik Saha wins the Town Bordowali seat.
  • BJP's Sushanta Deb wins the Bishalgarh constituency by defeating his nearest rival CPM's Pratha Pratim Majumder.
  • BJP candidate Surajit Datta is leading from the Ramnagar seat.
  • Independent candidate Purushuttam Roy Barman is trailing from the Ramnagar constituency.
  • Sudip Roy from Congress is leading from the Agartala seat.
Assembly polls
Tripura went to assembly elections in a single-phase polling on February 16. For the first time in Tripura, the Election Commission has appointed a counting observer for each of the 60 assembly constituencies to ensure the counting of votes in a free and fair manner.

Stakes seem higher
The stakes seem higher for the BJP as results will signal if it has deepened its roots in Tripura, a Left bastion captured by the party in 2018, or if the opposition has managed to dent its influence. BJP performs puja ahead of results: BJP performed puja at the party office in Tripura's Agartala on Thursday ahead of the counting of votes for the Assembly elections today. The state BJP president Rajib Bhattacharjee exuded confidence in returning to power again in the state.

Exit poll predictions
Exit polls have predicted that the BJP and allies are set to retain power in Tripura. The BJP and its partner IPFT are expected to win around 32 out of 60 seats in Tripura, which is just above the majority mark of 31, the poll of exit polls shows.

2018 assembly results
The 2018 assembly polls saw the BIP-led NDA win a comfortable majority, bagging 44 of the 60 seats. BJP won 35 seats on its own, ending CPM-led Left Front's 25-year hold on government. While India Today-Axis My India gave the alliance 36-45 seats, Jan Ki Baat gave it 29-40 seats and Zee News-Matrize 29-36. In the Times Now-ETG Research exit poll, the BJP and its ally was shown falling just short, at 21-27 seats.
