Three AIADMK men convicted of murder
CHENNAI: Seven years after three girl students of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) were charred to death in a bus following conviction of AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa in a graft case, a court on Thursday convicted three AIADMK workers for murder and attempt to murder.
The first additional sessions court in Salem also convicted 25 AIADMK workers for rioting and wrongful confinement.

Two other accused were acquitted.
Justice D Krishnaraja pronounced Nedunchezhiyan, the then AIADMK Dharmapuri unit secretary, Madhu alias Ravichandran, the then MGR forum functionary, and former panchayat president P Muniappan guilty of murder.
The judge also ordered cancellation of their bail and asked the police to take them into custody immediately.
There were total 31 accused in the case and accused No 28, Chellakutty, died during the trial. On February 2, 2000, a bus carrying TNAU students was returning to Coimbatore via Salem from a 12-day study tour when it was set ablaze at Dharmapuri by a mob protesting against the conviction of Jayalalitha in the Pleasant Stay Hotel case.
Three girl students - V Kokilavani, Gayathri and Hemalatha - were trapped inside the bus and were burnt alive and 18 students injured.
