NEW DELHI: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Friday took serious view of the unparliamentary words used by BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri during House proceedings on Thursday.

Issuing warning against Bidhuri, the Speaker said that if there is any recurrence of such behaviour in the future, strict action will be taken.

The unparliamentary words used by Bidhuri against BSP MP Danish Ali were expunged immediately. The BJP MP repeatedly used the words aatankwadi (terrorist) and mullah during a discussion on the success of Chandrayaan-3 in Lok Sabha.

Opposition parties have raised serious objections against Bidhuri's objectionable remarks.

In a tweet, Congress sought to know from PM Narendra Modi whether he had heard the kind of objectionable language the BJP MP had used against a fellow lawmaker on the basis of religion.

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi too objected to Bidhuri's language against Danish Ali. "Filthy language used by a BJP parliamentarian for fellow MP from BSP Danish Ali. No shame left. This is sickening," she posted on X, formerly Twitter.



Defence minister Rajnath Singh expressed regret over Bidhuri’s remarks.
