Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) special court on Wednesday granted bail to P S Sandhu, a senior police officer of Punjab, on surety of a bail bond of Rs 1 lakh.

CHANDIGARH: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) special court on Wednesday granted bail to P S Sandhu, a senior police officer of Punjab, on surety of a bail bond of Rs 1 lakh.
Sandhu, who was posted at the rank of assistant inspector general at Punjab police headquarters in Chandigarh, was arrested on July 12 by CBI sleuths for accepting bribe of Rs 50,000 from a man facing inquiries.

Nishant Sharma of Kharar town had submitted a written complaint against Sandhu. "Sandhu sought Rs 3 lakh from the complainant for favouring him in inquiries pertaining to cases registered against him. A trap was planned and Sandhu was caught from a city coffee house," said a CBI officer. He was currently in judicial custody.
