BIRKHADI(Gwalior): Madhya Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) accused of conducting a botched probe into the Vyapam scam by not registering cases against the high and mighty was prompt to book a dead youth from Bhind. And what’s shocking, STF woke up a year after his death to book him for irregularities.
Devender Nagar, 33, resident of Birkhadi village in Bhind worked for an NGO for a paltry salary of Rs 5000.
He was neither a PMT aspirant, nor a government employee who rigged his way to land a job. His job was to distribute medicines among ill villagers. He died in a road accident on a highway near Sonelalpura on December 26, 2013.
A year later, Devender’s father, a poor farmer, is being hounded by STF to squeal details on his son. Speaking to TOI, Asaram Nagar, 72, alleged, his son Devender was framed to hush up cases against influential people involved in the scam. “My son won’t return from the dead to defend himself. Now, nothing can be proved. Nobody will deny allegations slapped on my son. My dead son is being used as a scapegoat to protect the scamsters,” said Asaram. STF has charged Devender of being a middleman, who lured PMT aspirants for kickbacks.
“He was not linked to Vyapam scam. STF officials came to our house in December last year and informed us that our son is an accused. My son’s image is being tarnished,” said sobbing, Saki Bai, mother of Devender.
“Officials called us to Bhopal several times and asked baseless questions. We have told investigators there was no conspiracy behind my son’s death. STF is slapping false charges on innocent people and dragging them to court,” said Asaram said.
STF chief Sudhir Sahi could not be contacted for comments, despite repeated attempts by TOI.
