Srimad Bhagavad Gita offers solutions for individual, societal, national, and global challenges, says Union home minister Amit Shah
CHANDIGARH: Union home and cooperation minister Amit Shah, who was in Kurukshetra on Friday to participate in the ongoing International Gita Mahotsav (IGM), underscored the timeless wisdom embedded in the Srimad Bhagavad Gita as a solution to individual, societal, national, and global challenges.
While addressing the gathering at the Sant Sammelan organized as part of the International Gita Mahotsav, he not only praised Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar's government for promoting cultural harmony globally through IGM since 2016 but also emphasized the historical significance of Kurukshetra. Over 5000 years ago, it was the place where Lord Shri Krishna delivered the profound message of the Gita.
Shah expressed that disseminating the knowledge of the Gita aims not only to prevent wars but to inspire individuals for righteous causes. He emphasised that Lord Krishna imparted this wisdom to Arjuna for establishing religion on earth and ensuring the welfare of society.
Sharing a personal anecdote, the Union home minister revealed that the teachings of the Holy Gita, instilled by his mother since childhood, have been a guiding light, aiding him in navigating life's challenges without succumbing to disappointment and sorrow.
Acknowledging the Chief Minister's efforts, Shah praised him for internationalising the Gita Mahotsav, expanding its format, and facilitating the global dissemination of the timeless wisdom of the Gita.
The Union home minister commended the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that from 2014 to 2024, historic decisions have been made to awaken India's self, including the construction of the Shri Ram temple, the abrogation of Article 370, and transformative developmental projects.
Chief Minister Khattar warmly welcomed Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah to Kurukshetra on behalf of the state's 2.80 crore residents. The Chief Minister commended the Government of India, operating in alignment with Indian cultural values since 2014, and praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for their effective resolution of complex issues. Notable decisions, such as the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, the construction of Lord Shri Ram's temple in Ayodhya, and the legislation on triple talaq, were highlighted as historic milestones under their leadership.
The Chief Minister acknowledged recent legislative developments, with three new laws related to CRPC and IPC passing in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. He applauded the central government's efforts to unite the country by dismantling remnants of colonialism that persisted for 75 years after independence.
