CHENNAI: A Special CBI Court in Chennai would pass orders on January 30 on the petitions filed by Abdul Karim Telgi, a key accused in the multi-crore fake stamp paper case, and four others, pleading guilty.
Telgi, Abdul Wahid and Jacob Chako, lodged in Yerwada prison in Pune, had already pleaded guilty through video conferencing and sent petitions through jail authorities to the court.
Similarly, another accused Balaji, lodged in Bangalore Central Prison, also pleaded guilty through video conferencing and sent a petition to the court through jail authorities.
Another accused Peter Kennedy on Wednesday appeared before the court and filed a petition pleading guilty.
Special Judge N Velu said he would pass orders on January 30. The remaining accused, Nizamuddin, his wife Nasneen, suspended DIG Mohamed Ali, the then city assistant commissioner Shankar and LIC agent Ramasamy Sathu, who were on bail, were present in the court.
Another accused Sarfraz Nawaz had already pleaded guilty and was sentenced to five years rigorous imprisonment in the case.
According to the CBI, the accused conspired, printed and circulated fake stamp papers in the state, thereby causing loss of crores of rupees to the public exchequer. The accused were charged with conspiracy, cheating, counterfeiting and forgery.
