AJMER: In view of the protest threats concerning the visit of a Pakistani delegation to the Dargah Sharif, unprecedented security will be in place during the forthcoming ‘Urs’ of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti at the shrine in Ajmer.
A delegation from Pakistan comes to the city during the ‘Urs’ (death anniversary) every year by a special train. This time, some groups have threatened to protest against the visit in the wake of the recent attack on Indian death-row prisoner Sarabjit Singh in a jail in Pakistan.

The delegation will reach Ajmer on May 12.
On Wednesday minister of state for home Virendra Beniwal took stock of the security arrangements in Ajmer. He had a discussion with district officials about the security of the Pak delegation. The minister told the officials that apart from the state security, the Central Industrial Police Force will also be deployed.
Beniwal reportedly visited Ajmer on the instructions of the Union home ministry, which is concerned about possible protests against the visitors from Pakistan.
BJP MLA Vasudev Devnani requested the central government not to provide visas to the Pak delegation. “There is anger among the people on the issue of Sarabjit and, therefore, it would not be worthwhile to invite those devotees to Ajmer,” Devnani said. “Any anti-social element can disturb the peace of this holy city.”
