NEW DELHI: Having pointed fingers at
Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law
Robert Vadra for alleged land scams, Gurgaon MP
Rao Inderjit Singh may be planning for a life beyond Congress.
Rao’s daughter Bharti is set to launch a political party called Haryana Insaaf Congress. She is learnt to have applied to the Election Commission for the party’s registration with Rao’s ancestral house in Rewari as headquarters.
She is the president of this new outfit.
The Gurgaon MP has been holding “insaaf” rallies in different parts of southern Haryana, which is a stronghold of Ahirs, to highlight how this part of the state has been neglected during CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s rule. He had earlier announced the formation of the Haryana Insaf Manch (HIM) at a rally in March.
Bharti is widely seen as her father’s proxy who is in the Congress’s crosshairs for siding with the opposition in questioning Vadra’s land deals in his zeal to attack bête noire Hooda. She lacks political experience but campaigned for her father in the 2009 elections.
When contacted, Singh refused to comment on the issue. However, he reiterated that all his options were open. Sources said that one Dalip Singh has been made secretary while Surender Kumar has been given charge as treasurer.
