NEW DELHI: After the unexpected ousterof NDA in the recent LS elections, the saffron party will soon begin thepost-poll analysis of the disastrous loss. The RSS will take an official view ofthe situation when its national executive meets in July.
Butclearly, in the coming months, the RSS-BJP equation will revert back to type, with the former having the upper hand in the wake of BJP''s defeat. Already, RSSsahsarkaryavah Madan Das Devi, who used to liaise between RSS and BJP, has toldRSS''s official organ, The Organiser (May 23 issue) that a possible reason forthe NDA''s defeat was the direction the reforms were taking.
In thearticle, "Let''s hope they serve the country", Devi says, "The benefits ofeconomic reforms did not spread uniformly.
The farmers, rural youth andunorganised labour could not get sufficient care. There is a need to explain andstudy issues like disinvestment, and the direction of reform. Progress in theeconomy has to spread evenly. Maybe, NDA failed to correctly convey thismessage."
Unlike BJP, which is still to reconcile itself to theelectoral results, Devi''s tone is more gracious: "The non-NDA parties have got achance to form a governmen. Let''s hope for the best. They are trying to work outa common minimum programme. I wish them well. Let''s wait and watch."
