MUMBAI: State revenue minister Narayan Rane's son ran over the foot of a constable on Carter Road on Sunday night. The victim and the car have been identified: Mahadev Jadhav (50) and a Mercedes. "But when Nitesh went to the police station and confessed, they dropped Nilesh's name and booked Nitesh," he said. Nitesh, who recently returned to the city after completing his MBA course in London, was arrested and released on bail.
Jadhav's daughter said his toes were badly crushed but he could hobble around with the help of a stick. The incident took place at 9.30 pm on Sunday and Nitesh was arrested on Monday afternoon.According to the police, the incident took place near Cafe Coffee Day off Carter Road, a stone's thrown away from the additional police commissioner's office. A BEST bus driver and a motorcyclist had a tiff about overtaking, following which there was a traffic snarl. A Khar police mobile van, consisting of three constables rushed to the spot, and sorted out the dispute. They then proceeded to clear the traffic. "Nitesh drove up in his Mercedes, followed by security personnel provided for VIPs. The car passed by the constables and ran over the left foot of constable Jadhav," said senior inspector Satish Shingte.
