RAIPUR: The chief minister-elect of Chhattisgarh, Raman Singh, on Saturday virtually took command of the state administration when he held a meeting with the chief secretary, inspector-general of police and other officials at the VIP guest house here.

RAIPUR: The chief minister-elect of Chhattisgarh, Raman Singh, on Saturday virtually took command of the state administration when he held a meeting with the chief secretary, inspector-general of police and other officials at the VIP guest house here.
Chief secretary S K Mishra was earlier handed over a copy of the BJP manifesto before Raman Singh entered the hall so that the senior officials could be apprised about the party’s goals.

Union agriculture minister Rajnath Singh gave some broad hints about the new government’s aims to the officials.
Raman Singh politely but firmly told the officials to be neutral and desist from extra-constitutional considerations. He asked them to focus on he implementation of the party programmes listed in the manifesto.
Singh, who has a clean image, promised he would make sincere efforts to keep his government off any controversy. He said he would try to bring the government closer to the people. The two-tier ministry headed by Raman Singh will take oath at the Police Parade here grounds on Sunday morning. Deputy Prime minister L K Advani and BJP president M Venkaiah Naidu will be present.
Raman Singh told TNN that his main endeavour as head of the government would be to give a transparent administration and restore the image of the state government.
Raman Singh said infrastructure development, particularly roads and power, would get priority and the previous government’s controversial decisions would be reviewed.
