Mann ki Baat Live Updates: PM Modi spotlights danger of 'digital arrest' at 115th Mann Ki Baat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged people to strengthen the campaign of 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' this festive season during his monthly radio program Mann ki Baat on Sunday.

"Self-reliance has not only become our policy, it has become our passion. It was not very long ago, just 10 years ago, when if someone said that some complex technology was being developed in India, many people would not believe it and many would ridicule it," the PM said during the programme.

"But today the same people are amazed to see the success of the country. India, which is becoming self-reliant, is doing wonders in every field," he added.

He further highlighted the technological and scientific advancements of the country by talking about the Major Atmospheric Cherenkov Experiment (MACE) Observatory in Hanle village of Ladakh.

"Now the Self-reliant India campaign is becoming a mass movement. This month we inaugurated Asia's largest 'imaging telescope MACE' in Hanle, Ladakh. It is located at an altitude of 4300 meters...In a place where the cold is less than -30 degrees, where there is even a lack of oxygen, our scientists and local industry have done what no other country in Asia has done. The Hanley telescope may be looking at a distant world, but it is also showing us the power of self-reliant India," the PM said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday announced that his government will celebrate 150th birth anniversary of country's first Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and freedom fighter Birsa Munda, and urged the countrymen to become a part of the campaign.

PM Modi, while speaking during 115th episode of his monthly radio program Mann Ki Baat, said, "The government has decided to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of these great personalities at the national level. I would urge all of you to become a part of this campaign."

PM Modi further said that both Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Birsa Munda were great men who had different challenges but their vision was the same.

"India has faced some challenges in every era. Today in Mann Ki Baat, I will discuss two such great heroes who had courage and foresight. The country has decided to celebrate their 150th birth anniversary. Sardar Patel's 150th birth anniversary year will begin on October 31. After this, Bhagwan Birsa Munda's 150th birth anniversary year will begin on November 15. Both these great men had different challenges but their vision was the same, 'Unity of the country'," PM Modi said.

He further recalled his visit to Ulihatu village in Jharkhand, the birthplace of Birsa Munda, on his birth anniversary last year.

"If you ask me what the most memorable moments of my life have been, I remember many incidents, but there is one moment that is very special. That moment was when, on the 15th of November last year, I had gone to Ulihatu village in Jharkhand, the birthplace of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, on his birth anniversary," he added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "...A few weeks ago, I also went to Laos. It was the time of Navratri and there I saw something amazing. Local artists were presenting "Phalak Phalam" - 'Ramayana of Laos'. There was the same devotion in their eyes, the same dedication in their voices, that we have for Ramayana."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "Many of our school children are very interested in calligraphy. Through this, our handwriting remains clean, beautiful and attractive. Today it is being used in Jammu and Kashmir to popularise local culture. Firdousa Bashir from Anantnag is skilled in calligraphy. Through this, she showcases various aspects of the local culture. Firdousa’s calligraphy has attracted the attention of local people, especially the youth. A similar effort is being made by Gori Nath from Udhampur. With a Sarangi that is over a century old, he preserves different forms of Dogra culture and heritage. Through the melodies of the sarangi, he narrates ancient stories and historical events related to the culture in an engaging manner..."

Once an importer of mobile phones, India has now become the second biggest manufacturer of mobile phones in the world. Once the biggest buyer of defence equipment, India today exports it to 85 countries. In space technology, India has become the first country to land near the Moon's South Pole."

In his monthly radio programme, PM Modi said, "There is no system like digital arrest in the law, this is just fraud, deceit, lie, a gang of criminals and those who are doing this are enemies of the society. Various investigative agencies are working in collaboration with the state governments to deal with the fraud that is going on in the name of digital arrest. National Cyber ​​Co-ordination Centre has been established to create coordination among these agencies."

Infantry Day is celebrated every year to commemorate the landing of the 1st Battalion of the Sikh Regiment at the Srinagar airfield on October 27, 1947, to protect the people of Jammu and Kashmir from the designs of Pakistani Kabaili Raiders aided by the Pakistan Army.
