NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday hailed the ongoing India AI Impact Summit, saying its objective of ensuring artificial intelligence benefits all aligns with the need to make technology useful for the wider public.In a post on X on Day 2 of the summit, PM Modi said "बुद्धिमत्ता, तर्कशीलता और निर्णय-क्षमता विज्ञान और टेक्नोलॉजी को जन-जन के लिए उपयोगी बनाती हैं। India AI Impact Summit का उद्देश्य भी यही है कि कैसे एआई का इस्तेमाल सर्वजन के हित में हो [Intelligence, rationality and decision-making help make science and technology beneficial for society. This is also the goal of the India AI Impact Summit that AI is used for benefit of all"

The Prime Minister also shared a Sanskrit verse — “शुश्रूषा श्रवणं चैव ग्रहणं धारणां तथा। ऊहापोहोऽर्थविज्ञानं तत्त्वज्ञानं च धीगुणाः॥ [The desire to listen, attentive listening, comprehension, retention, reasoning, decision-making, understanding meaning and knowledge of principles – all these are qualities of the intellect and form the foundation of intelligence.]
The summit marks the first global artificial intelligence gathering to be hosted in the Global South and has attracted participation from more than 20 Heads of State, over 60 ministers and around 500 global AI leaders. Policymakers, technology firms, academic institutions and industry stakeholders are attending the event, which seeks to translate AI deliberations into tangible development outcomes under the IndiaAI Mission and the Digital India initiative.
PM Modi is scheduled to give his address on February 19. After inaugurating the Expo on Feb ruary 16, he interacted with exhibitors, including startups and research organisations, showcasing AI-driven solutions across sectors. He was accompanied by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Minister of State Jitin Prasada.The Expo is spread across 10 thematic arenas covering more than 70,000 square metres and features over 300 exhibition pavilions. More than 600 startups are participating, and the event is expected to attract over 2.5 lakh visitors, including delegates from across the world.
