PM Modi attacks 3 families in J&K, says terrorism taking its last breaths
SRINAGAR/JAMMU: Prime Minister Narendra Modi attacked the Abdullahs, Muftis and Gandhis on Saturday, claiming they had ruined J&K and alleging the three political families had promoted terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir for seven decades “only to keep their ships running”. But terrorism is drawing its last breaths in the Union Territory, he said.
Addressing a massive public rally at Doda, in Jammu division, Modi said a new leadership emerging in Jammu and Kashmir would replace dynastic rule.
“The stones used to attack security forces will make a new J&K now. Terrorism is breathing its last in J&K,” Modi said. “Terrorism was encouragedby the three families There was curfew as soon as the sun set. The home minister of India was scared to go to Lal Chowk,” he said, adding that “enemies of the nation” took advantage of the three families. Thousands of children lost their lives, the PM said.
“The three families have corrupted J&K. You were made to struggle for small things. Govt jobs were given only to those affiliated with the families. They looted your land. Dynasty politics has hurt J&K politics,” he said, accusing them of encouraging corruption and land-grabbers.“They gave govt jobs to only those linked to them, besides preparing the ground for separatism and terrorism,” the PM alleged.
“This time, assembly election will decide the future of Jammu and Kashmir, which has remained the target of foreign powers since Independence,” he told the gathering. “Not only this, dynastic politics made this beautiful region hollow from within, he said, adding, "The political parties you trusted never cared for your children. They only cared for and projected their children and did not let new leadership grow.”
“We will make a white paper on Kashmiri Hindus. BJP Kashmir is making efforts to bring back Kashmiri Hindus to the Valley. This change has not been brought by Modi, it has been done by you, the people of J&K,” he said.
“The upcoming elections are a direct fight between three families and the J&K youth who are chasing their dreams,” he said. Modi said that youth who would pick up stones to throw at the police are now thinking big. “Stones are being used to construct big buildings,” he said.
Modi said it was BJP that would restore statehood to J&K. “We are committed to making J&K a terror-free region and a paradise for tourists,” he said, adding that J&K will become a global film destination and that there would “soon be a direct train from Delhi to Srinagar”.
“The central govt is working on connectivity in the state. Newhotels and restaurants are opening up. We will make an environment where films can be shot in J&K again. We have made a new film policy,” Modi said.
Taking a jibe at the National Conference, Congress and PDP election manifestos, Modi claimed these aim to return J&K to its troubled past.He said they advocate the return of Article 370 and a rollback of reservations for Paharis, Gujjars, and Bakerwals, and also want to take away voting rights from Valmikis and Dalits in the UT.
