NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Army Chief General Bipin Rawat on Wednesday paid tributes to the jawans martyred in two encounters with militants yesterday in Kupwara district of north Kashmir.

The PM laid wreaths on the bodies of the soldiers at the Palam Airport here where the mortal remains were brought today.

On the occasion, Army Chief Gen Bipin Rawat briefed the Prime Minister on the incidents in which the casualties took place.

The Army Chief also expressed concern over the local support to the militants during the encounters.

"Those who obstruct our operations during encounters and aren't supportive will be treated as overground workers of terrorists," Rawat said while paying tribute to the martyrs.

"If locals who want to continue with terror by displaying flags of ISIS and Pakistan then we'll treat them as anti-nationals and will not spare them," he added.

On Tuesday, four soldiers including Major Satish Dahiya and four militants were martyred in two gunfights in Bandipora and

Handwara

areas. A civilian, six soldiers and a CRPF officer were also injured in these encounters.

All those anti-nationals waving flags of ISIS or of the enemy in J and K should be shot at sight after a verbal warning given through the loud speaker. If the media''s cameras can focus on these cowards with their faces covered, surely the army''s sharp shooters can take them one by one with rifles fitted with telescopic sights. So what if some of them are juveniles? I hope the BJP is not compromising on the security of J and K just to share power with PDP, which is tacitly encouraging these separatist elements. The PDP is clearly ''hunting with the hounds while running with the hares''. The opposition parties led by the Congress will go to any length just to cultivate these vote banks, even if it consists of separatists and other anti-nationals. Such is their frustration and desperation against the NDA which dislodged them in 2014, that they even question the rightful actions of our Army Chief. A true Army man always says what he means and means what he says. He always calls a spade a spade. He never indulges in double speak nor can he say things which are politically correct. There is no doubt that the opposition is now clearly behaving in an anti-national manner.I don''t want my taxes to be misused for providing Z plus security and granting other privileges to these separatists. All right thinking Indians would feel similarly if their hard earned money is misutilised for this purpose. Also, no state security should be provided to corrupt politicians, including ex-CMs, who stand accused in pending criminal or corruption cases, however high and mighty they might be.
