Pawan Khera should surrender in Guwahati, says Himanta Biswa Sarma

Guwahati: After Supreme Court refused to extend the transit anticipatory bail protection for Congress neta Pawan Khera, granted to him by the Telangana HC, following an FIR filed in Assam, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said it was time for Khera to “surrender before the law in Guwahati”. The SC ruling effectively opens the door for Assam Police to initiate action against Khera on Riniki Bhuyan Sharma’s FIR for alleged defamation. Sarma had earlier expressed displeasure over how Khera was able to leave Guwahati soon after the FIR was registered, saying “this means Assam Police had let him go”.
