NEW DELHI: The bodies of two Indian jawans were mutilated by Pakistan Army following a ceasefire violation along the LoC in Krishna Ghati sector of Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district on Monday.
The Indian Army's Northern Command released a statement, saying that after carrying out an unprovoked assault with rockets and mortar rounds, some Pakistan troops attacked a patrolling party of jawans and mutilated the bodies of those killed.
"In an unsoldierly act by the Pak army, the bodies of two of our soldiers in the patrol were mutilated," the statement read.
Condemning the Pakistan army's actions, the Indian Army promised swift retaliation.
"Such despicable act of Pakistan Army will be appropriately responded," the Northern Command statement said.
An army JCO and a BSF head constable were today killed and another soldier was injured as Pakistan fired rockets at a forward defence location (FDL) post of the paramilitary force along the LoC in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Naib Subedar Paramjeet Singh and Head Constable Prem Sagar of the BSF's 200 Battalion were killed in the attack, a senior officer of the paramilitary force said.
"At about 08:30 am, there was heavy firing from Pakistani (army) posts at BSF posts at LoC in Krishnagati sector of Poonch district with rockets and automatic weapons," the BSF officer said.
Troops guarding the border line retaliated effectively, the officer said.
Pakistani troops breached the truce along the Line of Control in Poonch and Rajouri district seven times last month.
They violated the ceasefire in Poonch district on April 19 and shelled mortars on forward posts in Nowshera sector on April 17.
