‘OMG, OMG’, tweets 28-year-old Tejasvi Surya after BJP picks him for prestigious Karnataka seat

NEW DELHI: After the BJP announced Tejasvi Surya as its candidate for Bangalore South Lok Sabha seat, the 28-year-old lawyer's reaction was nothing less than euphoric.


The announcement came as a surprise for everyone including Tejaswini Ananthkumar, the widow of Union minister Ananthkumar, who passed away in November last year.

Displaying his excitement, he took to Twitter and wrote, "OMG OMG!!! I can't believe this. PM of world's largest

democracy

& President of largest political party have reposed faith in a 28 yr old guy to represent them in a constituency as prestigious as B'lore South. This can happen only in my BJP. Only in #NewIndia of @narendramodi."


Surya has currently more than 60K followers on Twitter.

Late in the night not able to believe the decision of the BJP, he further wrote, "Okay! Sleep is not coming. So much excitement. So much adrenaline rush. So many hopes for the future. So much of work to do. One life time is not enough. If Modi can work for 20 hours a day at 68, we must be able to do more at 28!"


A "rising" star in the BJP ranks, Surya, is Karnataka BJP Youth Wing secretary. Surya will take on Congress veteran B K Hariprasad.

Earlier, the lawyer-turned-politician expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah for choosing him.

"I am humbled. Grateful. Overwhelmed. I thank PM @narendramodi for giving me this opportunity. I can't thank you enough, Modi Ji. I promise you that I shall work ceaselessly for our motherland till my last breath. That is the only way I can repay this debt of gratitude. THANK YOU!," he tweeted.


Karnataka will go to polls in a single phase on April 18.
