AHMEDABAD: Since Thursday, the convener of the Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS), Hardik Patel, has been finding it hard to secure open support from the Patidar business community.
He has been denied party plots and venues for even press conferences.
On Saturday, Hardik first went to a farm in Adajan hoping to hold a press conference. After being denied permission, he went to a mall from where he was turned away.

Eventually, he spoke to the media on the road outside the Adajan mall.
However, PAAS leaders have claimed that Hardik’s movements were governed not by the denial of permission but by the fear of arrest.
On Sunday, Hardik went into the planning mode again and held several meetings with his core committee members. He said, “I have to postpone the rally but have not called it off. We will definitely stage this march from Dandi next Sunday even if we are denied permission.”
Hardik said that the government was trying to suppress the movement by creating hurdles. “I have requested my community members not to resort to violence even if the police arrest me,” he told TOI over phone on Sunday. “We want to go ahead in a peaceful manner. Even the Sardar was in jail.”
The Sardar Patel Group went ahead with its prayer meetings on Sunday across the state. Lalji Patel, the SPG chief, said that the meetings drew good response.
