SRINAGAR: Hurriyat Conference leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said the conglomerate is willing to discuss autonomy with the Centre but it will have to listen to the Hurriyat point of view as well.
‘‘We are ready for any option that is available to address the problem. If the government of India wants to address autonomy, we are willing to talk about it.
But they will have to listen to our point of view, which is something much greater than autonomy,’’ he said.
He also called for the early resumption of talks between India and Pakistan to settle the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the wishes of the Kashmiri people.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq welcomed the peace initiatives between India and Pakistan as a positive development saying right now the echo of the Kashmir problem could be heard internationally.
He voiced support for international efforts, particularly those of the United States and Britain, saying that they are playing a positive role in this respect.
