Sonam Raghuvanshi
Newlywed wife of the victim and alleged mastermind behind the murder. The 25 year old surrendered to police in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh. Police believe she conspired with her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha to kill her husband during their honeymoon.

Raj Kushwaha
Alleged lover of Sonam and accused of executing the murder plan. The 21 year old Raj is a class 12 pass-out, who worked as an accountant at a furniture sheet unit owned by Sonam’s family in Indore. Kushwaha is said to have executed the plan to kill Raja with three of his friends. Shockingly, he also reportedly drove people to Raja’s funeral after the murder.

Anand Kurmi
Hailing from Madhya Pradesh, the 23 year old Anand is one of the three accomplices who allegedly helped Raj Kushwaha in the murder.

Akash Rajput
A native of Lalitpur, Uttar Pradesh, Akash is one of the three accomplices who allegedly helped Raj Kushwaha in the murder. During his interrogation the 19 year old revealed that Sonam feared her father would die of heart attack if she did not marry as per his wish.

Vishal Singh Chauhan
A resident of Madhya Pradesh, the 22 year old Vishal also one of the four accused in the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi. Shillong Police, in coordination with the Indore Crime Branch, searched his residence on Tuesday as part of the ongoing investigation.

All five accused sent to 8 day police custody
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) had sought a 10-day remand for all the accused but was granted 8 days by the court. As part of the probe, the SIT plans to reconstruct the crime scene in Sohra.

Autopsy confirms brutal killing
The autopsy of Raja Raghuvanshi confirmed he died from head injuries caused by a sharp weapon, likely a machete found near the scene. His wife Sonam, who had been missing, was arrested around 3 a.m. on Monday after calling her family from a roadside eatery. Her family informed Indore Police, who worked with UP authorities to detain her.

Plan orchestrated by Sonam
Raja’s mother alleged that it was Sonam who planned the entire trip. She had taken Rs 9 lakh from her husband to book tickets and hotels.
