Mahasweta Devi calls Mamata govt 'fascist'

NEW DELHI: Author and activist Mahasweta Devi sent the administration and political circles into a tizzy on Monday by calling the state government “fascist” for apparently not granting permission to rights groups to hold a rally in Kolkata. But even before the Magsasay and Padma Vibhushan awardee could finish her interaction, Mamata came up with a stinging response saying that Mahasweta had been tutored and she didn’t approve of her remarks.
