Madhya Pradesh students seek safe evacuation from Kyrgyzstan
BARWANI: A student from Barwani, trapped in violent incidents in Kyrgyzstan, released a video seeking help from the Indian government to reach the airport from the hostel to catch a return flight.
Chetan Malviya, a resident of Chachariya in Sendhwa subdivision and 8th semester MBBS student in Bishkek, said violence has reached the hostel doors and the scared students have booked flight tickets to India.
“We are scared, we ask the Indian government safely take us to the airport,” he said.
He said students from India and Pakistan are being beaten up and repeatedly tortured. Trapped in their rooms, the students fear for their lives.
“On May 18, the gate of our hostel was knocked four to five times, locals came here, but we did not open the door,” Malviya said.
On Tuesday, Chetan's father Kailash Malviya handed over a memorandum to the SDM of Sendhwa. He said, “Three students have been killed and about 29 are injured in the violence.”
“Pakistan government could get their students back. Indian government should also make arrangements to bring them back,” he said.
Another student, Raj Solanki from Ujjain district, made an appeal to PM Narendra Modi to securely evacuate them.
Madhya Pradesh chief minister Mohan Yadav, who spoke to the students on video call, posted on X, “When there was a fight between Pakistani students and the local people, some students of Pakistan got injured and that’s why Indian students are also worried.”
“I have also spoken to the students of Ujjain, Mandsaur and Neemuch trapped in Kyrgyzstan and assured them of full security and they are safe.”
“Around 30,000 children are studying MBBS in Kyrgyzstan, out of which 1200 children are from Madhya Pradesh and they are safe,” Yadav said.
