First phase of Lok Sabha elections

The Election Commission released the notification for the first phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, scheduled for April 19. 21 states and Union Territories (UTs) are going to polls in the Phase 1. Northern states Uttarakhand and Jammu & Kashmir to vote in Phase-1

After becoming the first state to enact the Universal Civil Code, Uttarakhand will vote in a single phase in the Lok Sabha elections. The voting for Lok Sabha elections in Jammu and Kashmir will be done in 5 phases, with the state voting in the first phase too. Eastern states Arunachal, Assam & Nagaland

The Lok Sabha elections in Arunachal Pradesh are scheduled to be held in a single phase, coinciding with the assembly elections on April 19. Elections in Nagaland will be held in a single phase as well. Meanwhile, in Assam, the elections will be conducted in three phases, with the first phase of polling also set for April 19. (AP photo)

Eastern states Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura

The Lok Sabha elections in Manipur will be conducted over two phases, with the first phase of polling scheduled for April 19. Mizoram will hold its polling in a single phase on the same date. Meghalaya, Sikkim & West Bengal

Bihar, Chhattisgarh & Uttar Pradesh

The Bihar Lok Sabha elections are scheduled to be held in seven phases, commencing with the first phase of polling on April 19. Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra & Rajasthan

In Madhya Pradesh, voting will occur over four phases, commencing on April 19 and concluding on May 15. Maharashtra will hold elections in five phases while Rajasthan will conduct its Lok Sabha elections in two phases. (PTI photo)

Southern states Tamil Nadu & Puducherry

Voting for the Lok Sabha elections in Tamil Nadu is scheduled for April 19 in a single phase. Concurrently, the by-election for the Vilavancode assembly constituency will take place alongside the Lok Sabha polls. Puducherry will also hold its voting in a single phase on the same day. (PTI photo)

Archipelagos Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep

The Andaman and Nicobar Islands Lok Sabha election will vote in single phase on April 19th, with Kuldeep Rai Sharma of the Congress winning the sole seat in the previous election.
