Like dad, 1988-batch IPS officer to now head BSF

NEW DELHI: Pankaj Kumar Singh, a 1988-batch

IPS

officer from Rajasthan cadre, was on Wednesday appointed as director general of Border Security Force. Singh, the son of retired IPS officer Prakash Singh who had also headed BSF several years ago, is currently serving as special DG in the same force.


The force was under additional charge of ITBP DG SS Deswal since its last full-time DG Rakesh Asthana was appointed as Delhi police commissioner in July end.

The apointments committee of the

Cabinet

on Wednesday also named the new ITBP chief. Sanjay Arora, a 1988 batch IPS officer from

Tamil Nadu cadre

and currently special DG in ITBP, will replace Deswal. In another order,

ACC

appointed Balaji Srivastav as the DG of

Bureau of Police Research and Development

, a central police organisation
