HOSHIARPUR: Himmat Rai, 63, from village Kakkon near Hoshiarpur was among the 45 Indian victims who perished in a fire in a building in Kuwait. According to the family he has been working there for the last around 25 years and was their sole breadwinner.
“He has been working there for the last around 25 years and for the last quite some time he was working as a foreman in the company. As he found that as compared to opportunities available here he could earn better he continued working in Kuwait,” said his morning wife Sarabjit Kaur. She said that their two daughters were married off and their son Arshdeep was still a student in tenth standard in a school.
His son-in-law Gurpreet Singh said that Himmat Rai was the sole breadwinner of his family and the government should help the family in such circumstances.
