CHENNAI: Friends, well wishers and party workers greeted DMK President M Karunanidi, who turned 81 on Thursday.
A large number of DMK workers formed a serpentine queue at the party office here to greet Karunanidhi personally.
The Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh had on Wednesday wished Karunanidhi ''a long and healthy life in the service of the nation''.

Earlier this morning, Karunanidhi, accompanied by DMK Union Ministers and party leaders, visited the memorials of Periyar E V Ramasamy and DMK founder late C N Annadurai and paid floral tributes.
Senior leaders TNCC President G K Vasan, CPI leader R Nallakannu and CPI(M) leader N Varadarajan were among those who personally greeted Karunanidhi.
The day is also being celebrated as Democratic Progressive Alliance''s ''victory day'' as the DMK-led DPA won all the seats in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry in the recent Lok Sabha poll.
Former Prime Minister V P Singh and other DPA leaders in the state are addressing a rally here this evening to celebrate the birthday of the DMK leader.
