Faiz cultural Foundation UK has invited Jawahar Lal Nehru university Students Union (JNUSU) president Kanhaiya Kumar to speak at the annual Faiz peace festival in the month of September in London.

PATNA: Faiz cultural Foundation UK has invited Jawahar Lal Nehru university Students Union (JNUSU) president Kanhaiya Kumar to speak at the annual Faiz peace festival in the month of September in London. The event is being organised since 2011 to celebrate the life and ideals of renowned left-wing Urdu language poet and activist Faiz Ahmed Faiz.
The event is a one-day affair divided into two parts, speeches and music.

“Others we are expecting to address this year's event are Pakistan's leading right activist Asma Jahangir, chairman of Pakistan's Senate (Rajya Sabha) Sen Raza Rabbani, who is a left-wing voice in Pakistan's politics, and Labour Leader Jeremy Corbyn”, said an organiser.
“Not only in India, Kanhaiya Kumar has captured the imagination of people beyond borders. it will be an honour to host him and listen to him here at Faiz peace festival, which has become the largest annual event of progressive South Asians in Europe”, said Nadeem Saeed general secretary Faiz Cultural Foundation (UK).
“We will provide a return ticket and 2/3 days of boarding and lodging for Kanhaiya in London”, Nadeem said through an email.
Political and social activists who addressed the previous events include Tariq Ali, Palestinian envoy in London Professor Manuel S. Hassassian, Abid Hassan Minto, Fahmida Riaz, I A Rehman, Dr Abdul Malik, Sen Hasil Bizenjo, Sen Afrasiab Khattak, Mian Iftikhar Hussain and Dr Pervaiz Hoodbhoy.
Faiz Cultural Foundation - UK is a non profit organisation registered in England and Wales run by a group of volunteers. It's organising annual 'Faiz Mela' in London since 2011, the year when great Urdu poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz's centennial birthday was celebrated across the world.
This foundation is named after the famous humanist and progressive Urdu poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz (1911 - 1984) as a tribute to his services to literature, culture and human rights.
Other events the foundation has organised include Mushaira, literary conferences and art exhibitions. The main aim of the foundation is to promote tolerance, humanity, human rights and peace through literary work of Faiz and other progressive writers of the subcontinent. This foundation also organises cultural shows, seminars, art exhibitions and musical events.
