PM Modi brought land scams allegedly involving Robert Vadra and former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda centrestage as he cautioned voters of Haryana that Congress’s return would bring back scams of “kharchi-parchi sarkar”, a term BJP also used in its manifesto to target the rival over allegations of corruption and land scams during its term.

“In Haryana, farmers’ land was looted, and the state was handed over to ‘dalals’ (middlemen) and ‘daamad’ (son-in-law),” Modi said referring to land deals during Hooda’s term as CM in which Vadra, husband of Congress general secretary Priyanka Vadra, is an accused.

At least one polling station in each assembly segment in Haryana, which goes to polls on October 5, will be managed entirely by women and persons with disabilities. At these women-staffed polling stations, all election workers, including police and security personnel, will be women.

"To promote gender equality and enhance the role of women in the electoral process, at least one polling station in each assembly constituency will be managed entirely by women and PwD employees," Chief Electoral Officer, Haryana, Pankaj Agarwal said on Wednesday.

Haryana will have a Dalit deputy chief minister if the BSP-INLD alliance comes to power after the October 5 polls, BSP supremo Mayawati said on Wednesday. The Bahujan Samaj Party president said that if the alliance wins, Indian National Lok Dal leader Abhay Singh Chautala will be the chief minister and he will have two deputies.

Delhi police commissioner has directed all the district police heads to patrol their respective areas every 15 days, ahead of the upcoming Haryana elections and festivals, an official said on Wednesday. In a recent meeting with his subordinates at the police headquarters, Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora issued directions to increase the presence of senior police officers on the streets of the national capital. He directed the officers to conduct patrolling at vulnerable areas, isolated stretches and crowded markets.
