We have done successful films together. The role he offered me now was excellent and author backed. I am playing a central character in the film which showcases the journey of a woman from her youth to old age," Jaya said.
Speaking about her character, the MP said, she stands firm on her convictions, has a strong personality and fights for what is right.
"The story is centered around my character and it is after a long gap that I have received such an offer," she said.
Asked about her rare appearance on screen, Jaya said, "It is because of my involvement with politics. Offers which came my way were not really worth taking the trouble for. Bokadia's film has tailor-made role for me. I did not want to do a film just to be seen."
The actress has also done 'Dashavatar' with Kamal Hassan. "I have completed Buddhadeb Dasgupta's bi-lingual film in Bengali and Hindi. Another movie 'The Desire-journey of a woman' is under production where I play an Odissi dancer and Shilpa Shetty's mother. So, If I get good roles and stories, I will definitely take on the offer," she said.
