NEW DELHI: As part of the ongoing confidence building measures, India and Pakistan have agreed to simultaneously release detained fishermen on Tuesday.
According to reports, while India would release as many as 94 Pakistani fishermen along with their boats, Pakistan would let free 74 Indian fishermen caught trespassing into their waters.
A delegation of Pakistan''s fishermen cooperative society in Karachi has currently been in India to ensure the release of Pakistani prisoners as well as looking after repair of their boats, the Daily Times reported.
Pakistani Foreign Office announced on Saturday the release of 74 Indian fishermen on Tuesday as part of Pakistan Prime Minister Zafarullah Jamali''s peace package.
Pakistan had released 269 Indian fishermen with their 31 boats on September 4 as a goodwill gesture to improve diplomatic ties between the two countries.
Fishermen arrested by authorities of both countries have been in prison for years for trespassing in each other''s waters.
India which in October put forward a dozen peace proposals mooted a hot line between the Coast Guard authorities of both the countries whenever fishermen violated each other territories.
Pakistan in response proposed a regime for handling the fishermen issue and releasing them within a month of their arrests.
